What to Expect

Tesla’s Vehicle Component and Hardware Test Team is seeking skilled and motivated (Mechanical) Vehicle Component Test Technicians to support development efforts across multiple validation projects. By joining us, you will play a key role in validating chassis systems, structural components, and other vehicle elements—such as thermal systems, seats, exteriors, and closures—during durability, performance, and reliability tests. This position directly contributes to design and product validations, ensuring the highest standards of quality and innovation. You will join at the ground floor of lab and team development, collaborating with exceptional colleagues to establish testing environments and equipment. What You’ll Do

WhatYou’llDo (Technical):

  • Performvehiclecomponenttestsindependentlyusing specialized equipment, fixtures, environmental testchambersand dataloggers andaccording to SOPs and internal standards.
  • Perform test preparation activities (e.instrumentation,assembly).
  • Perform teardowns for root‑cause analysis. Documenting findings andreportoutcomes. Present and discuss outcomes with engineers.
  • Maintain high test throughput/efficiency and data quality.Maintain and troubleshoot test equipment.
  • Supportcommissioning of machines and systems including functional testing and identification and documentation of deviations/errors in electrical plans.WhatYou’llDo (Organizational)
  • Ownorganizational tasks & responsibilities like creation & maintenance of procedures, SOPs, standards, equipment, inspections, lab commissioning, facilities,maintenanceand stafftrainings.
  • Tasks require work with hazardous materials using mandated PPE and to set up and perform tests in person and in lab environments.
  • Tasks require work with high‑voltage (live batteries) and other hazardous energy using mandated PPE and procedures.
  • Other tasks asrequired.

What You’ll Bring

WhatYou’llBring

  • Completed German vocational training (Berufsausbildung) or recognized equivalent education inVehicle Mechanic,Mechatronics,Industrial Mechanic,Agriculture orRefrigeration Technologyor comparable technical and craftsmanship education.
  • Strong computer skills andabilityto learn new software.
  • Ability to adapt to a constantly changing environment withnew technologies,equipmentand processes.
  • Abilityto perform repetitive and standardized work with high reliability and attention to detail on complicated systems isa “musthave”.
  • Excellenthands‑on skills with mechanical and electrical tools, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, 3D printers, machining equipment, vehiclelifts.
  • ~2 years of hands‑onexperience withtroubleshootingand repair work.
  • Additional Preferred Skills
  • >3years of experience indevelopment and validation testing(DEKRA / TUV / etc.)– particularlyinstructural testing ORvehiclecomponenttesting is a plus
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic system diagnostics, including use of diagnostic tools and techniques is a plus
  • Experience with 3D printing, mechanical fabrication methods is a plus.
  • 3D Design/CAD skills and creation of fundamental wiring andhydraulicsdiagrams isplus.Individuals with Bacherlors or Masters degree in relevant fields are welcomed to explore opportunities within the Test Engineering department.
