PhD position computational and mathematical oncology

Role Description

This is an on-site PhD position in Computational and Mathematical Oncology located at the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein in Kiel. The candidate will focus on conducting research involving computational models and mathematical analyses to address challenges in oncology. Additional tasks include data analysis, visualization, simulations, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including medical professionals and researchers. You may also be expected to contribute to scientific publications, attend conferences, and support teaching or mentorship activities as part of the academic environment.

Qualifications

• Strong background in computational modeling, data analysis, or related fields in computational biology or mathematical sciences
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB
• Knowledge or experience in cancer biology, bioinformatics, or systems biology
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
• Familiarity with data visualization tools and statistical methods
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English
• A Master’s degree in mathematics, computer science, bioinformatics, systems biology, or a related discipline
• Experience in scientific writing and publications is advantageous
• Motivated and passionate about contributing to advancements in oncology research
