Starting summer 2025, the NeuMoSens Group in Tübingen is looking for a PhD Student (f/m/d). The highly motivated Ph.D. student should be interested in sensor fusion, with a focus on wearable technologies and rehabilitation robotics!
They offer a funded researcher position for 3.5 years in their larger project “Fusion of neuromechanical modeling and wearable sensor data to enhance prediction of human movement intention in real-time robotic assistance”. In this project, you will work on fusing multi-modal wearable sensor signals—including eye gaze, computer vision, and motion sensors—using signal processing and machine learning techniques to understand and predict human movement intention.

The NeuMoSens Group is an interdisciplinary research group led by Dr. Isabell Wochner in the Research Field of Biomechanics and Biorobotics at the Hertie Institute for Clinical Brain Research (HIH) at the University of Tübingen. The project is closely connected to Cyber Valley, Europe’s leading center for excellence in AI and modern robotics and the Center for Bionic Intelligence Tübingen Stuttgart. Their overarching goal is to understand and predict human movement intention for real-time robotic assistance using wearable sensors and neuromechanical modelling. This research aims to advance assistive technology for individuals with motor impairments, ultimately enhancing their quality of life.
