Based in Keele, UK, it operates worldwide across Europe, the USA, Argentina, Canada, China, and India. The company leads in innovative calcium compounds and bone cements for surgical use, with products that regenerate bone and target infection risks across specialties such as musculoskeletal infection, orthopaedics, trauma, spine, foot and ankle, podiatry, and sports injuries. Biocomposites products are used in over one million procedures per annum and sold in more than 100 countries.

Role Overview

The Biocomposites Product Specialist’s primary goal is to drive compliant sales growth of the product portfolio across orthopedics, trauma, spine, and foot & ankle in priority target accounts. The Specialist will motivate, educate, and support distributor sales representatives through training, hospital and surgeon target selection, and in‑field sales support. Regular travel to target hospitals to engage surgeons, perioperative teams, and hospital staff is required to promote correct product use and adoption. The position reports directly to the Region Sales Director.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve sales revenue targets by product and specialty in assigned territory hospitals.
  • Drive adoption in existing accounts and new users within the territory, selling directly to surgeons and supporting local distribution teams.
  • Exhibit confidence in product knowledge and science to handle competitive threats.
  • Leverage data and local insight to prioritize territory needs and activities.
  • Use business planning tools to work the territory and meet quarterly MBOs.
  • Enhance relationships with key stakeholders in the distributor network to influence resource allocation and focusing on Biocomposites products.
  • Ensure distributor sales representatives sell compliantly using approved product messaging.
  • Provide continuous training and education to all distributor sales representatives in all vertical markets.
  • Identify and engage new distribution partners in key vertical markets.
  • Update distributor network on market conditions, challenges, product innovations, competition, and pricing as directed by the Region Sales Director.
  • Provide surgeon product feedback and identify challenges to inform new product development.
  • Demonstrate operating room and product competency to assist surgeons and peri‑operative teams with technical guidance.
  • Assist distribution with product expertise and support during sales calls.
  • Deliver product in‑services and continuing education seminars to hospital staff.
  • Cultivate relationships with key surgeons, residents, fellows, and KOLs within the geography.
  • Support local customer dinner meetings and scientific exchanges.
  • Support the Region Sales Director in business planning.
  • Achieve quarterly territory objectives as directed by the Region Sales Director.
  • Encourage clinician and distributor continuing education via sales training and current medical journals.
  • Manage expense reporting accurately using Concur.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date customer contact records, opportunities, and activities in the CRM.
  • Effectively manage credentialing requirements.
  • Travel and conduct overnight stays within the geography as required; travel to US headquarters in Wilmington, NC, for business meetings as needed.

Essential Skills Required

  • 3‑5 years of documented medical or B2B sales success with sales process training.
  • Track record of sales success and career progression.
  • Competency in presenting technical information.
  • Ability to work with highly diverse groups.
  • Skill in presenting and educating with provided materials.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to influence decision makers.
  • Medical device industry experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of human anatomy preferred.
  • Understanding of hospital operating room policy and procedures preferred.
  • Highly organized with exceptional follow‑up.
  • Computer and CRM skills; ability to use technology for territory management.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Residence within the geographical territory: San Francisco Patch (East Bay).
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
  • Preferably bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Background check and drug screening required.
