Public Policy Manager, AWS National Security & Defense (NSD) (FTC)

Would you like to be part of a public policy team that is driving the adoption of cloud computing Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the leading provider of cloud computing services providing IT infrastructure offerings such as on-demand compute capacity AI storage content delivery database services and more. The AWS Public Policy team is at the forefront of helping customers maximize the benefits of cloud computing by addressing regulatory and political blockers to cloud adoption. Please note this is a contract for 9 months.

Key Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will proactively build relationships with key policymakers, IT decision makers and executives in government, defense and security organizations to support AWS policy objectives at an international and national level. You will also lead AWS participation in key defense and security associations and coalitions that are critical to advancing the adoption of the cloud in national security and defense sectors and help develop policy positions and consultation responses. You will become familiar with all aspects of AWSs business and interface directly with the business units in the region and globally. While presence and travel across defense and security stakeholders is expected, this government affairs and policy position will be based in Berlin.

A Day in the Life

Lead and execute government affairs and advocacy programs across defense and security sectors.
Serve as an ambassador and central point of contact for AWS with defense and security officials and policymakers.
Represent key positions to the governments to enable a transparent and technology friendly regulatory environment for the adoption of the cloud in defense and security contexts.
Work with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities and risks arising from regulatory developments across defense and security.
Develop policy positions collateral and talking points while coordinating external advocacy efforts and outreach campaigns in line with AWS business objectives.
Facilitate high-level meetings between AWS executives and key stakeholders including government officials, defense regulators, industry associations and partners to promote the companys policy positions.
Craft and contribute to policy submissions and engage in consultations with relevant defense and security regulators.
Drive strategic third-party engagement through defense industry associations/coalitions and leverage outside consultants when appropriate.

About the Team

The AWS Public Policy team is at the forefront of helping customers maximize the benefits of cloud computing by addressing regulatory and political blockers to cloud adoption.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Public Policy, Political Science or Law.
Speak, write and read fluently in English and have the ability to take direction in English.
Experience representing a large company or association preferably within defense and security sector before national and local policymakers including significant experience running public policy advocacy campaigns.
