Your responsibilities

Duties include academic services in the project named above. Research associates may also pursue further academic qualifications outside of their work responsibilities. Our group is deeply involved in detector R&D and construction of the CMS experiment.

Specific Responsibility Of The Candidate Will Be

  • Further development of measurement setups and analysis tools for the quality control of pixel modules.
  • Leading role in all aspects of the assembly and quality control testing of 500 CMS Inner Tracker pixel modules.
  • Integration of pixel modules on detector structures (requires travel to Switzerland).
  • Laboratory and test beam, characterization of novel LGAD sensors.

Interested candidates will be offered the opportunity for independent research, advanced training, supervision of students and development of teaching skills. Additional scientific accomplishments are encouraged. The position is financed through the federal initiative FSP‑CMS “Physics with the CMS Experiment” by the German Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR).

The Cluster of Excellence “Quantum Universe” performs research to understand mass and gravity at the interface between quantum physics and cosmology. The research team includes leading scientists from mathematics, particle physics, astrophysics, and cosmology at Universität Hamburg and DESY.

A university degree in a relevant field, plus a doctorate.

  • A university degree in a relevant field.
  • A doctoral degree in physics and an excellent research record.
  • A strong competence in laboratory measurements.
  • Experience with read‑out electronics, data acquisition systems and analysis of detector data.
  • Very good knowledge of experimental particle physics, particle detectors, and data analysis.
  • Very good computer programming skills.
  • Motivation and ability to conduct independent research.
  • Good command of written and spoken English, good communication skills.
