Research Associate (m/f/d) (Doctoral Candidate) (E 13 TV-G-U, 65% part-time)

Main Responsibilities

The core task of the future position holder is to conduct feasibility studies for the planned detector upgrade with the aim of developing a robust technical concept. To this end, simulations using CBMRoot as well as Allpix² are to be performed and evaluated in close cooperation with experts from the CBM experiment. In addition, the successful candidate will participate in the testing and further development of CMOS sensors within an international R&D project.

Requirements for Employment

Completed university degree in a natural science or engineering discipline (Diplom/Master) and fulfilment of the requirements for admission as a doctoral candidate in accordance with the PhD regulations (Promotionsordnung) in Physics at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main. Ability to contribute independently, systematically and self‑motivatedly to a complex technology project and to actively foster exchange with international partners and stakeholders. Very good command of English (written and spoken), willingness to travel internationally, and confidence in an international environment. Prior experience in programming (C/C++, ROOT) desired. Experience with simulation using GEANT and Allpix² is an advantage. Basic knowledge in electronics and in silicon detector technology is expected.
