British Consulate-General Munich

Science and Technology Officer

Stellenbeschreibung:

Are you passionate about science, technology, and international collaboration? Do you want to be at the heart of the UK's global science diplomacy, driving innovation and building partnerships that make a real impact? Science and Technology Officer to join the Science and Technology Network (STN).

Who are we?

The British Consulate General in Munich is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas. The UK's Science and Technology Network (STN) is at the forefront of fostering global science partnerships and advancing science through diplomacy.

Our new Science and Technology Officer will report to the Regional Manager for Germany, Austria and Switzerland based in BE Berlin. The role starts at an exciting time, coming soon after the signing of a historic Bilateral Treaty between the UK and Germany. This post holder will also serve as a strategic connector between STN and the UK's Department for Business and Trade (DBT), helping to align science and technology policy with commercial priorities that drive investment and export growth.

As a Network we put our values - kindness, inclusivity, honesty, professionalism and responsibility - at the heart of all we do. We are inclusive and value diversity and the contributions of all staff. We welcome applications from everyone irrespective of gender and ethnic group but, as women and members of ethnic minority groups are currently underrepresented at this level at post, we would particularly encourage applications from members of these groups.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead on Strategic Priorities: Spearhead UK engagement in cutting‑edge fields like Quantum and Space, and drive collaboration across all priority areas in Munich and Southern Germany.
  • Connect Policy and Commerce: Act as a vital link between the Science & Technology Network and the UK's Department for Business and Trade, ensuring science policy supports investment and export growth.
  • Build Powerful Networks: Forge and maintain relationships with government, academia, research organisations, and industry leaders in both the UK and Germany.
  • Deliver Insight: Provide high‑quality analysis and recommendations to senior UK officials, helping to capitalise on emerging trends and opportunities.
  • Showcase UK Excellence: Lead bilateral projects, visits, and events to highlight the UK's world‑class science and innovation.
