About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced and technically strong Senior Hands-on Technical Lead todrive the design, architecture, and evolution of DocuSketch’s billing and authentication systems.In this role, you will serve as a key technical authority, working closely with backend, frontend,QA engineers, and PM to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable financial workflows across theorganization.You will guide architecture decisions, establish engineering standards, and collaboratecross-functionally to deliver high-quality, production-grade solutions. Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership & ArchitectureDefine and maintain architectural standards across billing and authentication platforms.Provide technical direction for backend implementation, database design, and serviceintegrations.Lead complex system design initiatives — ensuring scalability, reliability, andmaintainability.Oversee the evolution of billing and authentication systems, including integrations withCRM, ERP, data lakes, and payment gateways.Drive improvements in authentication and identity management (SSO, OAuth2, etc.) toensure secure access and seamless user experiences.Evaluate, introduce, and guide the adoption of new technologies, frameworks, and toolsthat enhance development efficiency and system performance.Promote an AI-first mindset, leveraging automation, analytics, and intelligent tooling toimprove operational efficiency and decision-making.System Ownership & QualityEnsure data integrity and consistency across billing, subscription, and accountingsystems for accurate financial reporting.Collaborate with Finance, QA, and Product teams to define test strategies — includingfunctional, integration, regression, and data reconciliation testing.Proactively identify performance bottlenecks and opportunities for optimization acrossthe stack.Maintain strong documentation and enforce best practices for code quality, testing, anddeploymentDrive continuous improvement of engineering processes and tools to enhance deliveryspeed and reliability.Cross-Functional CollaborationPartner closely with Product, Finance, and Engineering stakeholders to align technicalpriorities with business goals.Provide technical mentorship and guidance to engineers across teams, fosteringknowledge sharing and high engineering standards.Represent billing and authentication systems in technical discussions, architecturalreviews, and project planning sessions.RequirementsExperience & Skills10+ years of experience in backend engineering for SaaS or financial systems.Strong understanding of billing, subscription, and revenue recognition workflows.Hands-on expertise with authentication and identity management systems (SSO,OAuth2).Proficiency with backend technologies (Java/Spring Boot) and relational databases(PostgreSQL, MySQL).Familiarity with frontend frameworks (Angular) and RESTful API design.Experience with integrations involving ERP, CRM, or payment gateways.Strong architectural and problem-solving skills, with a focus on scalability andmaintainability.Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal).Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and collaborating across distributed,fully remote teams.Nice to HaveExperience with billing or financial platforms (e.g., Stripe, NetSuite, Zoho, FastSpring).Knowledge of QA automation tools (Playwright) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions,Jenkins).Exposure to AI-assisted development, intelligent automation, or data-driven systems.
