For decades, the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) at RWTH Aachen University has been a worldwide guarantor for successful and forward‑looking research and innovation in the field of production technology. The "Digital Production and NC Technology" group at the Chair of Machine Tools led by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christian Brecher deals with the integrative networking of real and digital systems along the product development process.
Through systematic aggregation, analysis and interpretation of planning, process and inspection data, we create transparency in complex manufacturing environments. With the help of data science and artificial intelligence (AI), we identify optimization potential and develop models for tomorrow's production. To support our research group, we are looking for a student assistant with a weekly working time of 7–10 hours. The focus of the activities is to support the ongoing research project "DüWeKMU" with a focus on digitization and data analysis to optimize the tool path and spindle speed. Possible activities include:
The successful candidate will be employed as a student assistant. The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term of 12 months. There is an option to extend the contract. Longer‑term employment is desirable. This is a part‑time contract position. The standard weekly hours will be 7–10 hours. The salary is based on the RWTH Guidelines for Student and Graduate Assistants. The position corresponds to a pay grade of €15.20 per hour.
