Systems Engineering Manager - Satellite & Telecom Systems (m/f/d)

You lead the systems engineering activities of complex telecommunication satellite programs across all project phases (B1–B2/C/D). You guide systems engineers, own system requirements and verification strategies, and act as the key technical interface to project management and customers.

Your Responsibilities

• Technical and organizational management of System Engineers in their respective assignments on the project, initially in phase B1 and later in phase B2/C/D), providing the guidance to achieve the mission technical objectives
• Act as interface to the project management and to the customer for any technical questions
• Define the system requirements (including verification approach), coordinated with the project management
• Evaluate system design maturity and perform independent technical assessments
• Establish and drive systems engineering processes across SE, ENG, AIT, PA/QA, SCM
• Ensure technical coherence, information flow, and regular project checkpoints
• Support risk assessment, cost control, and system-level budget planning
• Responsible for the timely delivery of inputs/outputs of the system engineering team
• Collaborate closely with telecom payload and satellite engineering teams on the satellite design
• Contribute to telecom system studies and platform cost optimization
• Support cost optimization of the OHB telecommunication platform products

Your Profile

• Master’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or Aerospace (or equivalent)
• 5+ years experience in space programs as System / Technical Lead
• Strong background in telecommunication satellite systems
• End-to-end systems engineering experience (mission definition to AIV/AIT)
• Confident in challenging technical baselines and driving corrective actions
• Strong capability to challenge the technical baseline and propose/undertake corrective actions
• Excellent communication skills; strong team and stakeholder mindset
