Technical Assistant Functional Building Materials

The Weimar Institute of Applied Construction Research (IAB) is one of the leading industry-oriented research institutes in Thuringia. For over 30 years, we have been developing innovative devices, processes, and materials for the construction industry in collaboration with partners from industry and academia. More than 120 employees work with us on practical solutions that shape the construction world of tomorrow. To strengthen our Functional Building Materials department within the Special Building Materials research division, we are seeking a Technical Assistant (permanent position) to start as soon as possible.

Your Tasks

• Provide technical support to scientific staff in research and development projects
• Work on national and international industrial contracts
• Prepare and analyze basic construction materials
• Assist with test evaluation and data analysis

Your Profile

• Successfully completed vocational training in a technical or skilled trade (e.g., materials/construction materials tester, industrial mechanic)
• Willingness to occasionally work shifts
• Proficient in MS Office
• Excellent German skills, both spoken and written
• Strong analytical thinking, structured working style, and ability to work in a team
• Class B driver’s license (passenger car)
