About the role

SGC-Frankfurt is seeking a Technical Assistant to strengthen our research team. In this role, you will support projects in the fields of biochemistry and molecular biology by independently conducting experiments, managing laboratory operations, and assisting with administrative tasks.

The project is supported by the BMBF (German Federal Ministry of Education and Research) and the Gates Foundation, aiming to validate new targets for the development of innovative contraceptive agents.

Your responsibilities

  • Maintain and culture insect and mammalian cells for protein expression
  • Perform routine cell line management, including passaging and viability monitoring
  • Support protein production and purification processes
  • Ensure laboratory safety and compliance with biosafety regulations
  • Manage lab supplies, equipment, and shared instruments
  • Assist in training new lab members in cell handling and support ongoing research projects

Your profile

  • Completed training as BTA, MTA, or an equivalent qualification
  • Practical experience with eukaryotic cell culture (insect and/or mammalian cells)
  • Familiarity with protein expression and purification techniques
  • Experience with cell viability assays and standard biochemical protocols
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and laboratory data management tools
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently
  • Good communication skills in English; German knowledge is an advantage
