Offer Description

The University of Stuttgart is one of the leading technically oriented universities in Germany in one of Europe’s most vibrant high‑tech and industrial areas. The professorship is aimed at outstanding early‑career researchers who have already demonstrated success in theoretical physics. The research focus should complement the existing fields of research within the department and may lie in non‑equilibrium physics applied to soft matter, quantum field theory, or quantum matter, as well as in the area of quantum information. Openness to interdisciplinary collaboration with other faculties, with cross‑disciplinary activities, such as the various Stuttgart Research Centers or the Max Planck Institutes, is expected. The duties of the professorship include teaching in the degree programmes of the Department of Physics.

We are searching for an individual who is distinguished by high‑ranking scientific publications with international visibility.

For a qualitative assessment of your academic accomplishments, we kindly ask you to submit a short description of your three most important scientific achievements, which should be no longer than one page in total. Possible successes may include, for example, those in the fields of research, teaching, science and society, knowledge and technology transfer, inventions and patents, software development or spin‑offs.

The position is a tenure track position leading to an appointment as a W3 professor in case of a positive evaluation.
