All-Domain Operations (ADO), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division, designs, develops, integrates, and manages the sensors, systems, and other assets necessary to support integrated ISR operations and accelerated decision‑making. HII advances the mission around the global environment by integrating data fusion and mission management capabilities for the Department of Defense, combatant commands, and the intelligence community.

Summary

HII‑Mission Technologies is seeking a System Engineer to demonstrate superb technical competency, deliver mission‑critical infrastructure, and ensure the highest levels of availability, performance, and security. Qualified Systems Engineers have a background in IT, computer systems engineering, or systems engineering and analysis.

What You Will Do

• Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure
• Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
• Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
• Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes
• Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
• Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower human intervention time on tasks
• Participate in the design of information and operational support systems
• Provide 2nd and 3rd level support
• Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
• Additional duties as assigned or required

What We Are Looking For

• 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience
• Proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting UNIX /Linux based environments
• Solid experience in the administration and performance tuning of application stacks (e.g., Tomcat, JBoss, Apache, Ruby, NGINX)
• Solid Cloud experience, preferably in AWS
• Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Virtual Box)
• Experience with monitoring systems
• Experience with automation software (e.g., Puppet, cfengine, Chef)
• Solid scripting skills (e.g., shell scripts, Perl, Ruby, Python)
• Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)
• Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance

Bonus Points for

• Associates with a minimum of 7 years of recent specialized experience; OR recognized major industry certification with at least 7 years of recent specialized experience; OR a total of 11 years of recent specialized experience without a degree or certification
• BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject
• Clearance: Possess and maintain a TS/SCI clearance

Physical Requirements

Office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
