System Engineer (Remote - US)

In this role, you will serve as a key technical expert, providing advanced engineering and Tier III support for Azure and Microsoft server technologies within complex, large-scale environments. You will be responsible for the full spectrum of system management — from performance monitoring and capacity planning to security, automation, and optimization. Collaborating closely with peers, architects, and service delivery managers, you will help design, implement, and maintain resilient cloud-based infrastructures. You will also mentor junior team members, contribute to knowledge sharing, and ensure best practices are followed for operational excellence. Accountabilities

• Provide Tier III engineering support for Azure and Microsoft server technologies, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
• Follow ITIL processes for incident, problem, and change management to resolve client issues efficiently.
• Act as an escalation point for Tier II administrators, offering guidance and support on technical challenges and projects.
• Collaborate with architects to develop new service offerings and optimize existing client environments.
• Proactively identify opportunities for automation and implement repeatable processes to increase efficiency.
• Manage and maintain cloud resources, including Azure networking, databases, containers, and role-based access.
• Perform periodic environment reviews, recommending enhancements for service reliability and security.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, knowledge base articles, and process guidelines.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to support critical systems 24/7 as needed.

Requirements

• Associate degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 5 years of experience delivering Azure deployment and support for IaaS or PaaS solutions.
• Expertise in managing Windows and Linux servers in cloud environments, automated patching, and disaster recovery.
• Strong knowledge of Azure networking, ExpressRoute, role-based access, and container management (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Hands-on experience with Office 365, Exchange, Teams Calling, Intune, and Endpoint Management.
• Skilled in scripting (PowerShell, Python, Terraform) and automation tools (Chef, Puppet, SCCM, Ansible).
• Proficient in IAM, cloud security tools, and compliance frameworks such as PCI, ISO 27001, or SOX.
• Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104), Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305), or Azure Security Engineer Associate.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, customer service orientation, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
