Account Manager (m/f/d) – Integrated Diagnostic Solutions

Location - Cologne

On behalf of our client, a leading international medical technology company, we are recruiting an Account Manager (m/f/d) to manage and grow a defined territory within Western Germany.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven professional with experience in diagnostic solutions to take full ownership of a sales territory and build long-term partnerships with clinics and laboratories.

The Role

You will be responsible for the successful sales of integrated diagnostic products and solutions, focusing on both new customer acquisition and the expansion of existing accounts. Working across all decision-making levels—physicians, laboratory management, and procurement, you will manage complex sales opportunities and drive sustainable growth.

You will operate with a high level of autonomy, using structured sales methodologies, customer segmentation, and potential analyses to strategically develop your territory and meet defined sales and profit targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full ownership of a defined sales territory for diagnostic solutions
  • Acquisition of new customers and expansion of existing relationships
  • Management of complex, consultative sales opportunities
  • Achievement of agreed sales and profitability targets
  • Strategic territory planning based on customer segmentation and potential analysis
  • Value-based positioning of the product portfolio along the customer value chain
  • Continuous monitoring of market and competitor activity
  • Active participation in customer events, workshops, and exhibitions
  • Accurate opportunity management and documentation using CRM tools (e.g. Salesforce)
  • Close collaboration with internal sales, marketing, product management, and service teams

Candidate Profile

  • Scientific degree (biology, biotechnology, medical technology, or similar)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in consultative sales of diagnostic solutions
  • Proven commercial success; experience in molecular diagnostics or microbiology is highly desirable
  • Strong business acumen with analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Solid understanding of the clinical and laboratory market
  • Confident communicator with a customer-focused, solution-oriented mindset

Additional Requirements

  • Professional use of CRM systems and standard IT tools
  • Fluent German and very good English skills
  • High willingness to travel within the assigned territory (approx. 80%)
  • Self-motivated, resilient, adaptable, and committed to continuous learning
  • High level of integrity, emotional intelligence, and professionalism
