Assistant to the Director (m/f/d)

The Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart ( ) is one of the world's leading institutes in condensed matter research. • Serve as the primary point of contact for the department via phone or e‑mail.
• Coordinate travel arrangements and schedule meetings.
• Organize workshops and conferences.
• Manage day‑to‑day e‑mail correspondence in both English and German.
• Provide administrative support to department members and visiting scientists, including assistance with accommodation arrangements.
• Liaise with the institute's administration on matters such as travel reimbursements, procurement of materials, and inventory management.
• Maintain and update the department's website using the content management system (CMS).
• Excellent command of written and spoken English and German.
• Strong proficiency in standard software and a willingness to learn new tools. Experience with content management systems (CMS) is an advantage.
• Open‑minded and comfortable working with diverse cultures and communication styles.
• Highly flexible, reliable and well organized.
• Able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team.
• Proactive in anticipating and prioritizing tasks.
• Takes initiative and works with a high degree of responsibility.
• Enjoys working in an international, scientific environment.
• Previous experience in an international research setting is an advantage.
• A two‑year contract initially.
