Associate M&E Cost Manager (Data Centres)

About this opportunity

Senior cost management professional responsible for managing the cost aspects of mechanical and electrical services within data centres construction project. Location: Sines, Portugal. This role requires being on-site during the work week; no rotation or fly‑in/fly‑out arrangement applies.

Responsibilities

  • Support Business Unit Directors in delivering business objectives.
  • Deliver high quality services and ensure that cost management deliverables meet customers’ requirements.
  • Manage projects and deliver high quality services and deliverables in accordance with business procedures.
  • Prepare and present order of cost estimates and option studies.
  • Plan, budget and forecast M&E cost.
  • Conduct cost‑in‑use studies.
  • Evaluate and report on tenders.
  • Value completed work and arrange for payments.
  • Settle final accounts.
  • Administer M&E contracts as Contract Administrator or Employer’s Agent.
  • Produce and present reports to customers.
  • Work closely with project teams to integrate M&E cost management into overall project delivery.
  • Identify and manage cost‑related risks and opportunities in M&E services.
  • Manage service delivery for profit.
  • Advising directors promptly of any issues that have arisen or that might arise, particularly those that could impact on Gleeds professional indemnity (PI) insurance.

Qualifications

Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills

  • Sound M&E cost management experience in large‑scale construction projects, including data centres or other mission‑critical projects.
  • Professional knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment and installations.
  • Knowledge of industry standards around equipment and engineering specifications relating to Data Centres.
  • Working knowledge of construction procurement strategies, including tendering and contract strategies.
  • Good knowledge and experience of post‑contract cost management tasks.
  • Clear and effective communication skills – both oral and written.
  • Methodical way of thinking and approach to work.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to quickly adapt to changing environments.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, negotiating, finance and numeracy management skills.
  • Ability to absorb complex information and assess requirements readily.
  • Clear understanding of legislation impacting on building contracts.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Available to work in Sines 5 days per week (no rotation applies).

Required Education

  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree.
