The Business Expert New Applications will belong to the European Sales & Marketing Metal Fabrication, and is responsible for establishing, strategically developing, and monetising business opportunities in the fields of space, defence, security-relevant high-tech industries, as well as new applications.

The position acts as the interface between the market, customers, technology, engineering, and sales, driving new applications, partnerships, and major projects across the entire value chain.

We’re looking for an exceptional individual with extensive experience. The Business Expert will show excellent social skills, including the ability to quickly assimilate new information, identify patterns, make sound decisions and develop creative solutions.

Key Responsibilities

The Business Expert will drive the identification, assessment, and development of new business opportunities across the Space, Defence, Aerospace, Advanced Manufacturing, and Government-related segments.

  • Identifying, evaluating, and developing new business opportunities in the segments of Space, Defence, Aerospace, Advanced Manufacturing, and Government-related Projects, etc.
  • Building and maintaining a strategic project and opportunity pipeline (mid- & long-term).
  • Analysing market trends, programmes (e.g. ESA, national defence programmes), competitors, and regulatory frameworks.

Key Account & Stakeholder Management

  • Cultivate and strengthen high‑level relationships with OEMs, Tier-1/Tier-2 suppliers, research institutes, system integrators, and public clients.
  • Close cooperation with key accounts, sales, engineering, operations, and supply chain.
  • Representing the company at trade fairs, conferences, specialist committees, and customer events.

Project & Offer Development

  • Lead the initiation and coordination of offer and project development processes.
  • Defining value propositions, business cases, and commercial models.
  • Supporting contract negotiations in close coordination with management and legal.

Internal Coordination & Governance

  • Foster effective collaboration with international teams (Marketing, Business Development, Engineering).
  • Ensuring compliance with requirements for compliance, export control, and security.
  • Provide regular strategic reporting on market developments, projects, and key strategic initiatives.

Job requirements

Background & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial engineering, natural sciences, business administration, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in business development, strategic sales or project business, ideally in the environment of: Space / Aerospace, Defence / Government Projects or High-tech, Advanced Manufacturing or Industrial Gases & Technologies.
  • Experience with complex B2B projects, long sales cycles, and stakeholder management.
  • Very good understanding of technical applications and products requiring explanation.
  • Confident handling of business cases, market analyses, and presentations.
  • Fluency in English. German, or other European languages are a plus.

Availability to travel abroad 50% of the time.
