The internship assignment:
The Manufacturing Engineering Team for Roll-to-Roll Equipment is responsible for leading and scaling up of manufacturing (calendering, lamination and slitting) processes for our cutting‑edge Tesla battery cell manufacturing line.
The battery cell is a critical component in Tesla vehicles and storage systems. This role will have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to our products.
The intern supports day‑to‑day team operations, being involved in the design, development, commissioning and ramping‑out of our high‑throughput equipment, while working in a cross‑functional team to test, validate and roll‑out process.
The intern plays a key role on continuous machine improvement during all project phases and will work closely with Roll‑to‑Roll organizations across Germany and the United States.

What You'll Do

• Work with manufacturing, process, and equipment engineering teams to develop and set up design of experiments (DOE), as well as build and test Tesla equipment and products.
• Organise and analyse data sets that outline the systemic improvement opportunities.
• Identify, address, and solve process concerns with equipment performance, reliability, efficiency and yield through modification of existing equipment, and/or design of improved equipment.
• Apply technical knowledge to innovate, design and develop processes, tooling and procedures.
• Learn how to coordinate projects.
• Manage projects involving multiple departments and/or outside contractors.

What You'll Bring

• English fluent, both written and spoken.
• Preferably studying in a relevant engineering field.
• Good knowledge in the areas of moderation and training for the introduction of processes.
• Good knowledge in the use of common MS Office applications.
• 2D & 3D ACAD experience in creating/validating layouts, tooling drawings.
