The Senior Communications Specialist is a key driver in developing and executing integrated communication strategies that elevate above-brand initiatives and pipeline assets, with a strong focus on disease awareness for HCC and trade media. This role involves crafting content that ensures cohesive messaging and alignment with business objectives. It resonates with diverse stakeholders by translating complex medical information into accessible language for the general public. This role is responsible for executing and strengthening media relations for and across key therapeutic areas, including branded content. Reporting to the Associate Director Communications Disease Awareness.

Job Description and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement communication strategies for above-brand initiatives, product messaging for media, and disease awareness campaigns across key therapeutic areas.
  • Proactively manage and strengthen media relations with a focus on trade media to effectively promote therapeutic areas and products.
  • Initiate and lead press events, media interviews, editorial briefings, and other PR activities.
  • Create press materials (e.g. Press releases, media kits, Q&A documents) for effective communication of key messages and content development for media collaborations.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with key influencers in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors, assisting in the execution of influencer cooperation initiatives to amplify messaging and enhance disease awareness.
  • Develop impactful content for earned and owned channels, including corporate websites and social media platforms, ensuring that global communications content is effectively adapted for local use.
  • Plan and execute awareness campaigns related to therapeutic areas and clinical study programs, monitoring and adjusting campaigns for risk mitigation and maximizing impact.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align communication strategy with business strategy.
  • Participate in departmental and team meetings within the Public Affairs, Communications & Sustainability department, ensuring strong alignment with Policy, as well as with Corporate and Marketing Communications, Global Clinical Trial Operations (GCTO), Marketing & Sales (Business Units), Policy, New Products and Global Communications.
  • Assess the effectiveness of communication initiatives through both qualitative and quantitative metrics, driving continuous improvement and maximizing impact.
  • Oversee the legal and medical review process for all communications materials to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and accuracy of medical information.

Required qualifications and experiences:

  • At least bachelor's degree in communication studies, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience in communications or public relations, preferably in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or health sector.
  • In-depth understanding of current trends, challenges, and opportunities in the health sector.
  • Excellent writing and editorial skills to create compelling content for various target groups and channels, as well as the ability to effectively convey complex content across different formats and platforms.
  • German and English language.
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills for developing and implementing strategic communication plans from goal definition to success measurement.
