Your role: You will define and evolve the OT and digital solution architecture for Darmstadt Development, where approximately 280 colleagues develop and manufacture new oral and parenteral drug products. Partnering closely with scientist and production experts, Cybersecurity, Enterprise Architecture, IT/OT engineers, and service delivery teams, you will design secure, reliable, and compliance-ready architectures that enable efficient operations and trustworthy data. You will bridge business and technology needs, ensuring that solutions align with site and enterprise strategy, integrate effectively with core platforms, and meet lifecycle, security, and compliance expectations.

An additional focus of the role is the governance and strategic development of business-managed applications (BMAs). You will assess their architectural fit and risk, guide lifecycle and integration decisions, and drive portfolio simplification and standardization to reduce technical debt while improving usability and compliance readiness. You will develop and maintain roadmaps, prioritize architectural initiatives, and steward change through forums and stakeholder workshops. You will provide architectural input to solution selection and vendor engagements, support business cases with architectural rationale, and ensure smooth handover to delivery and operations with clear non-functional requirements and architectural documentation.

Who you are:

• Proven experience in IT/OT or digital solution architecture within laboratories and/or GxP-regulated production environments.
• Strong understanding of OT architectures and lab/manufacturing solution ecosystems (e.g., instrument integration, data platforms, LIMS, MES, and typical OT/IT integration patterns).
• Demonstrated ability to design and govern architecture standards, reference architectures, and reusable patterns.
• Experience leading conformance/design reviews and guiding solution teams through architectural guardrails and change control.
• Practical knowledge of securing OT environments and designing for data integrity, resilience, and compliance readiness.
• Familiarity with business-managed applications: governance, lifecycle, integration, and portfolio rationalization.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills; able to influence cross-functional stakeholders and translate business needs into actionable architectures.
• Degree in computer science, automation/industrial engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
