Energy Portfolio Strategy and Optimisation Leader

Position:Energy Portfolio Strategy and Optimisation Leader Location: Madrid, Spain Who are we recruiting for: We are supporting a leading European renewable energy platform with a diversified portfolio of wind, solar, and battery storage assets across several European markets. As the company continues scaling its commercial and asset management platform, they are strengthening their commercial optimisation and portfolio strategy capabilities.

What will you be doing:

Lead the design and execution of portfolio optimisation and hedging strategies across European power markets

Build and manage quantitative capabilities to support data-driven portfolio and market decision making

Work closely with commercial origination teams to structure and evaluate structured energy contracts, including PPAs and other long-term offtake arrangements

Develop centralised valuation, pricing, and commercial modelling frameworks for internal teams

Partner with Trading and Risk functions to improve hedge execution and market exposure management

Monitor electricity market developments and build long-term pricing and market outlook models

Apply quantitative and statistical techniques to optimise portfolio performance and manage risk exposure

Define performance KPIs and implement automated reporting and portfolio monitoring processes

Are you the ideal candidate?

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in energy trading, portfolio management, or risk management roles with exposure to commercial PnL environments

Strong understanding of power markets, renewable energy commercialisation, and hedging instruments

Experience using quantitative modelling approaches to analyse risk and market performance

Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, or similar data analytics tools is highly desirable

Strong communication skills with the ability to translate quantitative analysis into commercial insights

Degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Physical Sciences, or related disciplines

Fluent English required; German is a plus
