Project Environment

This role supports digital transformation initiatives within a complex public-sector and defense-related IT environment. The position focuses on the planning, coordination, and execution of the configuration management work package, with a strong emphasis on IT service management processes, product configuration control, and continuous process improvement.

Role Overview

The Expert Business Integration / Configuration Management Administrator is responsible for setting up, managing, and optimizing configuration management structures and processes in line with ITIL-based service frameworks. The role includes ownership of configuration data management, product library administration, KPI-oriented process analysis, and support for migration and technical project activities. It also requires the ability to communicate technical topics clearly to different stakeholder groups and to contribute to internal project leadership in business-critical areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain a configuration management database to support an ITIL-based process framework.
• Establish and manage configuration management structures, product libraries, and system access permissions.
• Initialize and administer products and product configurations based on assigned requirements and requests.
• Document and analyze IT monitoring data and process performance, and define relevant key performance indicators.
• Actively support the continuous improvement and optimization of configuration management systems, processes, and related documentation.
• Independently perform specialist tasks and contribute to the leadership of internal projects in critical operational areas.
• Prepare and present technical content in a structured and audience-appropriate manner.

Required Qualifications

• German language skills at C1 level and English language skills at B1 level according to CEFR.
• Certification in IT Service Management , ideally ITIL Foundation .
• Professional experience in configuration management and project work:
  • At least 2 years after completion of a university degree
  • At least 5 years after completion of vocational training

Professional Experience Requirements

• Experience in IT service management process landscapes based on ITIL standards , including experience in database modeling such as SQL.
• Experience in configuration management .
• Experience in the specification and development of concepts related to configuration management.
• Experience in migration projects and technical project management, ideally including practical project experience in database migrations.
• Experience in user enablement, specialist presentations, and the effective communication of technical knowledge in customer-related project environments.

Soft Skills

• Strong teamworking skills.
• Professional and appropriate manner of communication.
• Confident verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex application topics clearly and understandably to users.

Additional Requirements

• Willingness to travel as required by the role.
