Graduate - Internal Audit - based in Luxembourg

The EIB, the European Union's bank, in the framework of its GRAD programme, is seeking to recruit for its Management Committee (MC), Internal Audit Department (IA), Internal Audit EIB Division (EIB), IA Market Risk, Treasury, Finance & BBP Unit (IA-MR-TRES-FI-BBP), at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a Graduate – Internal Audit.

This is a full-time position. The term of the contract will be 2 years. Panel interviews are anticipated for April/May 2026.

Purpose

Internal Audit (IA) plays a critical role in the governance and management framework of the EIB Group by providing independent and objective assurance, as well as advisory services aimed at enhancing operational efficiency. IA adopts a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and internal control processes across the EIB and EIF. IA embodies the third line of defence within the internal control framework.

The purpose of this Graduate position within the Internal Audit Department is to support audit assignments and participate in transversal activities, such as the regulatory screening or the development and use of Artificial Intelligence.

Operating Network

As a Graduate, you will report to the Senior Head Unit and contribute to audits covering a wide range of activities and processes at the EIB or EIF level. Within the scope of specific audit assignments, you will also operate under the supervision of senior colleagues. The role involves regular interaction with colleagues across all Directorates of the EIB Group, and with external stakeholders relevant to the audit function.

Accountabilities

• Contribute to audits covering a wide range of banking and fund business related topics at the EIB and the EIF, with focus on banking prudential regulatory framework and supervisory standards, treasury, capital markets and financial risk management
• Support the planning, fieldwork and reporting of audit assignments under supervision from experienced auditors
• Keep abreast and follow the latest developments in the internal audit function and in the banking industry
• Demonstrate fair overview of the banking and fund businesses understanding the risks, intrinsic drivers and mechanics
• Contribute to the implementation of the Internal Audit strategy by participating to transversal support activities and contributing to methodological developments
• Follow Internal Audit processes, procedures, IT systems, methodologies and working tools
• Assist with the preparation of presentations, reporting and training materials
• Interact in a professional manner with IA colleagues and different IA stakeholders in the EIB Group, across all Directorates

Qualifications

• University degree (minimum an equivalent to a Bachelor), preferably in Business Administration, Audit, Accounting, Economics or a related field.
• No more than two years of professional experience after graduation (summer jobs and internships shorter than nine months should not be counted). Professional experience in internal audit and/or external audit would be preferred, experience in Banking environment would be an advantage.
• General understanding of Internal Audit’s role.
• Strong analytical skills demonstrating capacity to synthesize complex concepts in a clear, concise and reader-friendly manner.
• Proactive, collaborative and problem-solving attitude.
• Excellent drafting skills in English.
• Excellent knowledge of English and/or French (***), with a good command of the other. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.
