From Financial and Cash Flow Management, to Accounting, Long-Term Financing, Tax Management, Investment Strategy, Purchasing, Controlling, Budgeting, Forecasting, and comprehensive Financial Reporting and Analysis. In an ideal scenario, Finance is not just crunching numbers but act as strategic partners who advise and challenge the CEO, Business Unit Leaders, and Managers in their pivotal decisions.
Operating as a shared service across the vast HRS Group landscape, the team of approximately 40 experts thrives on collaboration. Guided by the CFO and his adept Management Team, they are all about efficiency through standardized workflows and leverage cutting-edge decision-making tools and principle-based insights to bolster the company´s resilience in times of rapid change.
POSITION
We are looking for a Head of Accounting - General Ledger (all genders) based in the Cologne region — an experienced and hands-on leader with a proactive can-do attitude, who is the second hand of the VP Finance to manage and develop HRS’s Accounting practice, drives daily accounting execution, ensures accurate financials across multiple entities, and continuously improves processes.
The role requires regular on-site presence to collaborate closely with the local leadership team.
This pivotal position is one of the most senior Finance positions within HRS and reports directly to the VP Finance. Important other regular stakeholders include the Group CFO, the Head of Global Accounting (Group consolidation), the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis, Global Lead Taxes, and the Global Lead Treasury Management. Beyond this, the role interacts with both internal and external stakeholders.
CHALLENGE
End-to-end ownership of the general ledger (Hauptbuch) across multiple domestic and international legal entitiesEnsure the accurate and timely posting of all GL-relevant transactions, including accruals, provisions, asset accounting, and month-end closing activitiesResponsibility for the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual standalone and consolidated financial statements according to HGB (IFRS a plus)Oversight of the chart of accounts, accounting policies, and GL-related internal controlsHands-on management of intercompany processes: reconciliations, eliminations, and rechargingOperational execution and continuous optimization of all GL workflows to increase accuracy, speed, and transparencyKey point of contact for auditors, tax advisors, banks, and internal stakeholdersSupport of the VP Finance in further developing HRS’ Finance compliance frameworkSupport in financial analyses, monthly bank reporting, and ad hoc financial requests. Ownership of accurate actual numbers to share and align with internal stakeholders.Leadership and development of the accounting team (currently 3 people)
FOR THIS EXCITING MISSION YOU ARE EQUIPPED WITH...
Extensive hands-on experience in general ledger (Hauptbuch) accounting, including responsibility for the full GL cycleProven track record of managing the accounting for multiple legal entities within one corporate structure Professional experience in companies of similar size and/or complexity (100+ employees), ideally with international subsidiariesStrong knowledge of HGB; IFRS experience beneficialExperience preparing consolidated financial statements within group structuresFamiliarity with intercompany processes, transfer pricing, and international accounting workflows. Ensures to meet compliance requirements across these topicsStrong system affinity; experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and reporting tools (e.g., LucaNet)Execution-driven “maker doer mindset,”,strong sense of ownership, and attention to detail Excellent German and good English communication skills

LOCATION, MOBILITY, INCENTIVE
The attractive remuneration is in line with the market and, in addition to a fixed monthly salary, all necessary work equipment and mobility, will also include an annual or multi-year bonus.
