Head of AI Engineering

We are partnered with a global technology group seeking an Head of AI Engineering to build and lead a new engineering function responsible for delivering production-grade AI services across the organisation. This role sits at the heart of the central AI unit and is focused on designing and operating scalable AI service components that support a wide set of products and teams. It is a hands‑on leadership role with significant influence over engineering culture, delivery standards, and cross‑functional collaboration. Key Responsibilities

Build, lead, and mentor a high‑performing engineering team delivering full‑stack AI services Own end‑to‑end architecture and platform governance for cross‑team AI service components Prioritise and manage delivery across multiple AI use cases with product and engineering leadership Deliver core platform capabilities (e.g., AI runtimes, fine‑tuning pipelines, evaluation frameworks, SDKs/APIs) Establish engineering best practices: testing, documentation, observability, CI/CD, versioning, release management Ensure privacy, security, compliance, and model transparency across all services Communicate trade‑offs, investments, and platform impact to senior stakeholders Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science/Software Engineering or equivalent experience Proven track record delivering AI/ML services or platforms in production Strong background in cloud‑native engineering (any cloud: AWS, Azure, GCP) Deep expertise in backend architecture, API design, data integration, and platform engineering Strong grounding in security, compliance, observability, and SLO‑driven operations Excellent stakeholder management and communication
