IT-Retail Format Strategy Expert

for an internationally operating retail company, I am currently looking for a Retail Format Strategy Expert (m/f/d) to support the strategic development and optimisation of small store formats (Smart & Xpress).

The objective of this assignment is to analyse and improve format performance in a data-driven way and to successfully implement international roll-outs in close collaboration with country organisations and central functions.

Scope of work:

• Support the development and optimisation of small-format store concepts (Smart & Xpress)
• Track, analyse and report key KPIs to assess format and location performance
• Identify optimisation potentials based on performance and profitability analyses
• Build and evaluate business cases (unit economics, P&L, CAPEX/OPEX, payback)
• Ensure implementation of international concepts, standards and guidelines across countries
• Support and steer expansion and continuous improvement initiatives
• Align country-specific roll-outs with overarching group strategies
• Close collaboration with internal stakeholders (e.g. Country Teams, Expansion, Operations, Finance)

Required profile:

• Several years of experience in retail strategy, store/format development, expansion or portfolio optimisation
• Strong analytical skillset, especially in:
• Profitability calculations
• Performance analysis and management reporting
• Experience with franchise or commission-based business models is a plus
• Very good English skills; German is a plus
• Structured, solution-oriented and hands-on working style
• Confident working in international and intercultural environments

Project setup:

• Duration: initially 6 months (option for permanent employment)
• Capacity: full-time
• Location: Ingolstadt & remote (50/50)
