Responsibilities

  • Serves as senior IT Specialist supporting the management of five segregated classified and unclassified Local Area Network/Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN) enterprises for thirty-five remote sites and five geographically separated units (GSUs) throughout Europe and Continental United States (CONUS).
  • Maintains and assesses configuration management plans to ensure optimization of connectivity between remote sites throughout the installation.
  • Functions as a senior technical advisor on contract and budget activities.
  • Represents the organization at conferences and meetings and presents briefings.

Qualifications

  • This is a GG-12 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-12 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-12 level. The selectee\'s salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee\'s qualifications in relation to the job.
  • In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions for the GS-2210, Information Technology (IT) Management Series (Alternative A).
  • Experience: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.
  • For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

Requirements and Conditions

  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • All new DCIPS employees are required to complete a two-year DCIPS trial period.
  • Position is designated critical-sensitive and incumbent must be able to obtain and retain a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
  • If authorized, PCS will be paid IAW JTR and AF Regulations. If receiving an authorized PCS, you may be subject to completing/signing a CONUS agreement.
  • This posn is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
  • Must be registered for Selective Service
  • Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends and/or holidays
  • Shift work and emergency overtime may be required
  • Employee must maintain current certifications
  • Disclosure of Political Appointments
  • Direct Deposit: All federal employees are required to have direct deposit
  • Relocation Incentive may be authorized for this position
  • Overseas relocation and medical/dental care responsibilities apply per location
  • Depending on the type of position you will be required to serve a probationary/trial period
  • Travel may be required for temporary duty assignments
  • Recall to duty may be required with potential overtime

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Knowledge of a wide range of IT principles, concepts, and methods.
  • Knowledge of the policy and planning formulation process to prepare IT polices and plans.
  • Knowledge of budgetary processes, cost-benefit analysis methods, and analysis of performance data to prepare persuasive budget recommendations in support of IT requirements.
  • Skill in system architecture and the use of integration techniques and testing methods.
  • Ability to analyze complexities of existing technology, review/revise/develop policy, initiate plans for enhancements, and provide management sufficient technical and cost analysis information, through written documentation and oral briefings, to render informed judgments.
  • Ability to maintain an up-to-date awareness of technological advances and predict how management can meet future requirements.
