Junior Legal Counsel – IT & Data Law, sennder HQ Berlin. Department: Legal. Hybrid. Full-time.

We are looking for a (Junior) Legal Counsel – IT & Data Law to strengthen our Legal team in Berlin. In this role, you will support our transformation into a truly digital logistics company by advising on cutting-edge data, technology, and privacy topics.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate IT-related contracts , including SaaS agreements, cloud and infrastructure contracts, data processing agreements, and vendor terms, in close collaboration with Procurement, IT, and Security.
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Data Protection Management System across multiple European entities.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on data protection, data law, and IT law questions , together with the Data Protection Officer and the Legal team.
  • Assist in the design, update, and rollout of data governance frameworks , including retention, deletion, and access concepts.
  • Maintain and update the Record of Processing Activities, technical and organisational measures (TOMs) , and internal guidelines relating to IT, data protection, and data handling.
  • Support data protection impact assessments , audits, and risk analyses for new or evolving IT applications.
  • Assist with the legal assessment of security incidents and potential data breaches , in coordination with IT Security and the Data Protection Officer.
  • Work closely with Product and Engineering on data flows, technical design, and privacy-by-design considerations .
  • Support Procurement in vendor onboarding processes , including reviewing IT, security, and data protection requirements.

This is a hands-on role with room to grow into independent ownership of IT and data law topics.

Qualifications

  • German-qualified lawyer with ideally 1 to 3 years of relevant professional experience (including law firm or in-house experience), fluent in German and English.
  • Interest in IT & Data Law : practical experience with IT-related contracts, data protection, or technology-driven legal topics, or a strong willingness to develop expertise in these areas.
  • Contracting Basics : experience in reviewing or drafting contracts, ideally in a technology or data-related context.
  • Technical Curiosity : interest in cloud services, AI, digital platforms, and data-driven products.
  • Structured Working Style : ability to work carefully and systematically on recurring legal tasks, with growing independence over time.
  • Strong Communication Skills : ability to explain legal topics clearly and pragmatically to non-legal stakeholders.
  • Proactive Mindset : willingness to take responsibility, ask questions, and continuously develop legal and technical understanding.
