The Institute for Machine Elements and System Development (MSE) at RWTH Aachen University focuses on research in drive technology, with an emphasis on vibration analysis.
Today, meaningful NVH statements are usually only possible once a de-tailed CAD model exists and time-consuming FE/eMBS simulations are available. In contrast, this project investigates how simplified but physically meaningful models can be built that already work in early design phases.
Classical NVH chain consists of three part:
Excitation: How gears and electric machines, etc. generate dynamic forces and order.
Transfer Path: How these excitation travel through bearings, mounts and joints.
Radiation: How the housing structure finally radiates sound to the environment.
Depending on interest, this thesis would focus on one of the three parts of NVH chain.
