People Business Partner (m/f/d) - Augsburg

The People Business Partner (PBP) (m/f/d) is a senior-level strategic advisor who partners closely with business leaders and employees across IGEL’s Innovation and Product Group (IPG). IPG includes Product Management, Software and Linux Development, IT, and IT Security teams based in our Augsburg office in Germany.

This role is instrumental in shaping organisational effectiveness, strengthening leadership capability, and elevating the employee experience as IGEL continues to scale.

The role requires the confidence and credibility to influence senior technical leaders, constructively challenge where needed, and operate effectively within a highly skilled, opinionated product and engineering environment.

The PBP (m/f/d) will anticipate people-related needs, provide both practical and strategic guidance, and deliver solutions aligned with IGEL’s business objectives, values, and culture.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Partnership & Organizational Support

  • Partner with leaders to understand business goals and actively shape people strategies, providing both support and constructive challenge to drive organizational effectiveness
  • Provide insight and guidance to business leaders on organizational design, workforce planning, and team scaling
  • Leverage data and insight, including talent metrics, engagement findings, and trends, to drive proactive decision‑making

Employee Experience & Culture

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and high‑performing workplace culture across the Augsburg office and remote teams
  • Coach leaders on effective people leadership, performance management, engagement, and difficult conversations
  • Address employee concerns with tact, discretion, and empathy, ensuring alignment to IGEL values
  • Work closely with the on‑site People Manager in IPG, to advise and coach leaders on performance management, development planning, succession, and career progression
  • Support programs that strengthen leadership capability and employee development
  • Identify talent gaps, align with managers and the Director, People Operations on appropriate solutions

Employee Relations

  • Serve as a trusted advisor on complex employee relations issues, ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant outcomes, including situations involving senior leaders, performance risk, and organisational change
  • Lead or support investigations as needed, maintaining clear documentation and communicating recommendations effectively

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Partner with People Operations to ensure smooth onboarding, offboarding, and core HR processes
  • Partner closely with the Senior Director, HR Compliance on Works Council matters to ensure compliant, pragmatic, and business‑aligned outcomes
  • Provide guidance to managers in line with German labour law
  • Support policy interpretation, creation, updating, and communication

People Programs & Change Management

  • Implement or support the rollout of People Team initiatives, including compensation cycles and performance feedback under the IGEL Continuous Development Process, engagement surveys, and organizational changes
  • Act as a change ambassador, ensuring alignment, communication, and adoption throughout the business

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field—or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 4 years serving as a business partner or generalist
  • Strong working knowledge of German employment law, with demonstrated experience working with Works Councils in a pragmatic, business‑aligned manner
  • Demonstrated success coaching and influencing senior leaders, including in technically complex or high‑expectation environments
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and business acumen
  • Ability to work onsite in the Augsburg office on a regular schedule
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and German

  • Highly proactive self‑starter, comfortable operating independently and managing priorities with minimal day‑to‑day supervision
  • Confident and credible when partnering with strong, technically driven leaders
  • Pragmatic, solutions‑oriented mindset with sound judgement
  • Strong relationship‑builder with the ability to influence without authority
  • Experience in the technology, SaaS, or high‑growth environment
  • Experience partnering with global or distributed teams
