Portfolio Manager

Overview

A leading European investment platform is seeking an Associate to join its portfolio-focused value creation team . This role sits at the intersection of investing, operations, and strategic transformation, supporting portfolio companies on initiatives that drive performance improvement and long-term value creation.

The successful candidate will work closely with internal investment professionals, senior operating leaders, and management teams across a range of sectors. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in consulting, transformation, or performance improvement who is looking to move into a more hands-on, portfolio-oriented environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support portfolio companies on strategic and operational improvement initiatives
• Help identify and track value creation opportunities across commercial, operational, and organizational workstreams
• Assist with performance diagnostics, KPI development, and implementation planning
• Work alongside deal teams and company leadership to monitor progress against transformation priorities
• Contribute to portfolio review materials, internal analyses, and management-level presentations
• Participate in pre- and post-investment work related to operational due diligence and execution planning

Candidate profile

• 3-5 years of experience in management consulting, operations improvement, transaction services, or transformation roles
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Experience delivering performance improvement, cost optimization, growth, or operational excellence projects
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-expectation environments
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
• Exposure to private equity, portfolio environments, or PE-backed businesses is advantageous
• Undergraduate degree required; strong academic background preferred
