Position

1 Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/d) – Data Steward/Data Engineer

Part‑time position (50%) starting May 2026, contract duration 4 years, salary level TV‑L E13.

Activities and Responsibilities

• Act as central service interface between the researchers of FOR 5889 and the IT infrastructure at Düsseldorf, Dortmund, Stuttgart, and Tübingen.
• Understand relationships between research methods, workflows, data structures, and generation of scientific knowledge to make processes transparent.
• Optimize and standardize data flows and work processes within the research network.
• Develop and maintain IT infrastructures and data management strategies to support research processes.
• Contribute to the creation and implementation of data management plans in line with research data management (RDM) best practices.

Qualifications

• University degree (Diplom, Master’s, or equivalent) in Biology, Biochemistry, Human Biology, Molecular Medicine, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related life‑science discipline.
• Doctoral degree (Dr. rer. nat., Dr‑Ing., PhD, or equivalent).
• Solid knowledge of research data management concepts and methods.
• Strong interest in independent development of IT infrastructures, RDM strategies, and data management plans.
• Familiarity with the FAIR principles and advanced understanding of IT system operation.
• Programming skills (e.g., for automated data processing) and practical experience with electronic laboratory notebooks.
• Strong communication skills in German and English.
• High level of teamwork ability and independent, responsible, committed working style.
• Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration is appreciated.
