Process Design Consultant

We are looking for a Process Engineer to join our teams in Frankfurt, Germany and support the conception, design, and dimensioning of process equipment for pharmaceutical and biotech manufacturing facilities. The role focuses on developing robust process solutions from early design through execution, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and scalability.

Your Responsibilities

Design and size process equipment such as bioreactors, fermenters, filtration systems, mixing vessels, and chromatography skids according to process and GMP requirements.
Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and P&IDs to define system architecture, interconnections, and instrumentation.
Perform process calculations and dimensioning (mass balance, heat transfer, flow rates, pressure drop, mixing time, etc.) to support detailed engineering.
Collaborate with mechanical, automation, and utilities teams to ensure integrated and compliant process design.
Prepare technical documentation including URS, design specifications, datasheets, and design qualification documents.
Support vendor selection and technical reviews to ensure equipment design meets project and process needs.
Participate in FAT, SAT, and commissioning of process systems, providing process expertise during start-up and qualification.
Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation by optimizing equipment performance, scalability, and process robustness.

Your Profile

Degree in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in process engineering within pharmaceutical or biotech environments.
Strong knowledge of equipment design, process dimensioning, and scale-up principles .
Experience with bioprocess unit operations (upstream and/or downstream).
Familiarity with GMP, GEP, and industry standards (ISPE, ASME, PED).
Hands‑on experience with FAT/SAT, commissioning, and qualification is an advantage.
Excellent analytical and communication skills with a collaborative, solution‑oriented mindset.
Fluent in English and German is mandatory.
