Your responsibility

In this cooperation project, (bio)technological processes developed by the FU and TU Berlin are used to produce novel building materials from construction and demolition waste. This is intended to make a contribution to climate‑neutral industrial bioproduction. The research topic aims to change the material properties of the fungal mycelium in the material using genetic engineering manipulation. In addition, the interaction of the fungus with other material components is characterized. The candidate will use genetic methods to modify fungi and multi‑omics approaches for their analysis. Furthermore, samples are produced in close collaboration with the project partners to examine the mechanical, building physics and durability‑relevant properties of the material.
