Overview

The Chair of Renewable and Sustainable Energy Systems at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) is seeking a research assistant (up to TV-L E13, fixed-term) with the opportunity to pursue a Ph.D. The focus is on energy modeling, data-driven planning approaches, and the development of innovative data infrastructures for national and municipal energy planning. Candidates should have experience in energy modeling, data analysis, and modern data processing, as well as a passion for teaching and teamwork.

About Us

The Chair focuses on energy system modelling across a wide range of temporal and geographical scales to understand technical and organizational transformation. New modelling approaches are developed that satisfy technical and physical constraints while incorporating societal and economic aspects.

Requirements

• Intention to pursue a doctoral degree or already holding a completed doctorate
• Experience in energy system modelling and data analysis
• Experience with modern data processing methods
• Enthusiasm for teaching and for contributing to the success of a collaborative research team

Responsibilities

• Further development of energy system modelling to systematically take into account new and rapidly changing boundary conditions
• Development of modern data-driven planning approaches that enable flexible and robust energy roadmaps at national and municipal levels
• Design and implementation of innovative data infrastructures for municipal energy planning within the research project NEED, with a focus on fast and reliable data provision

We offer a full-time position as a Research Associate with the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree. The position is initially limited in time. Employment and remuneration are in accordance with the collective agreement for the public service of the German federal states (TV-L), up to pay grade E13.
