We enable anyone to be an investor. Our mission is to grow investing opportunities for all European customers and businesses. By empowering FinTechs, banks, and wealth managers to offer investment products, we help create financial well‑being for their customers.
lemon.markets is a Brokerage-as-a-Service platform: simple digital access to capital markets through a single API. Our API‑first infrastructure abstracts brokerage complexity with a well‑documented API, a self‑service customer operations portal, and a clear regulatory framework, so partners can launch customer‑centric, compliant products in weeks, not months.
As part of the dwpbank group, we’re adding a layer of resources and expertise to benefit from, while continuing to operate as an independent fintech with our own team, product, and start‑up identity under the dwpbank umbrella.
Your Mission
As our Senior AFC Compliance Manager (Deputy MLRO), you’ll help ensure lemon.markets can scale safely and confidently in an increasingly bank‑grade, B2B‑focused environment. We already have a full AFC framework in place. Your mission is to take what exists, challenge it, refine it, and bring it to the next level.
In particular, you’ll play a key role in shaping how we operate as part of a group and in conversations with large financial institutions. You will communicate at eye level with strategic internal and external stakeholders, translating regulatory expectations into practical processes, and preparing high‑impact AFC decisions. Over time, this role potentially also offers the opportunity to take on leadership responsibility.
In this role you will:
- Support the MLRO function as Deputy MLRO: you prepare and structure decisions so they can be approved efficiently, and you step in as a trusted representative where needed.
- Own AFC Compliance processes end‑to‑end , based on your previous experience; for example, control design & implementation.
- Review and approve high‑risk customers and business‑critical decisions: you support/drive approvals of high‑risk customers and complex setups and you handle or steer money‑laundering suspicion cases.
- Work closely with 1LoD / AFC Operations as their senior contact point: you run calibration and alignment meetings, resolve escalations, and build a collaborative rhythm where guidance is clear, implementable, and actually adopted.
- Prepare strategic AFC decisions with high business impact: you turn complex regulatory requirements into crisp options, recommendations, and decisions, so leadership can approve with confidence.
- Collaborate with group stakeholders: you align on group standards and approaches where needed, implement group processes, and communicate in a way that works for a large‑bank environment.
- Support Partner Onboarding (KYP) from an AFC perspective: you help evaluate new partners against AFC requirements, understand their KYC/monitoring maturity, and assess how their risk profile affects lemon.markets.
You’ll be successful in this role if:
- Growing investing opportunities excite you . Our mission resonates with you, because you have worked in the financial sector before, whether it’s an Investment Firm, a Bank or a Fintech (or ideally a mix of all).
- You have extensive experience in AFC with a strong 2LoD foundation, meaning solid regulatory and hands‑on experience across KYC, AML, CTF, fraud prevention plus know‑how and working knowledge of the German Money Laundering Act.
- You bring strong stakeholder management and communication skills: you can set clear requirements while bringing people along, collaborative, firm, and pragmatic.
- You have senior‑level judgment and can confidently interact with representatives of large German banks.
- You can work in German and English at C‑level proficiency and express yourself clearly, precisely, and professionally.
What would make you an even better fit (nice to have, not mandatory):
- You have B2B exposure (onboarding/monitoring/partner risk), ideally in models where you don’t fully see end customers and must rely on partner controls.
- You have experience as Deputy MLRO (or in a comparable role with MLRO‑level responsibilities).
- You have experience in AFC Operations (1LoD).
How we take care of you:
