Responsibilities

• Lead technical architecture and implementation decisions for our User Authentication Services platform, driving the evolution of our authentication infrastructure that serves millions of users globally.
• Take responsibility for migrating from our PHP monolith to Auth0, architecting and implementing solutions that decouple authentication services while maintaining system reliability.
• Design and build robust backend APIs and services using TypeScript and Node.js, supporting authentication workflows and user management systems at enterprise scale.
• Develop and optimize Auth0 integrations and SSO implementations, ensuring seamless authentication experiences across our product ecosystem.
• Proactively enhance the infrastructure for monitoring with Datadog, software quality, and the software development process with the team.
• Manage and evolve cloud infrastructure using AWS, Terraform, and CDK, ensuring high availability and security of authentication services.
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams across the organization to integrate authentication services into their applications.
• Partner with Customer Success teams to resolve complex authentication challenges for enterprise clients and collaborate with our vendors (Auth0, OpenAthens, DFN, etc.).

Qualifications

• 5+ years backend development experience with TypeScript/Node.js in production environments.
• Strong knowledge of AWS cloud services and Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform/CDK).
• Proven experience with authentication systems, identity management, or similar security-focused domains.
• Experience leading technical decisions and mentoring other developers in complex system architectures.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly across teams and troubleshoot issues collaboratively with non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with PHP development environments is a nice-to-have.
