Zalando's Retail Media unit ZMS is looking for a high‑impact Senior External Marketing & PR Specialist to elevate our brand presence across the DACH region and Europe. We want to lead and drive it, not just participate.

Responsibilities

• Proactive press outreach: pitch stories, data‑driven insights, and executive profiles to top‑tier business, tech, and marketing publications.
• Secure guest columns, speaking engagements, and expert commentary opportunities for leadership, and promote our podcast.
• Research, draft, and submit entries for industry awards to maintain high rankings.
• Coordinate interviews and maintain a steady drumbeat of press coverage that reinforces our market authority.
• Leverage existing network of journalists, editors, and influencers to bypass noise.
• Steer and coordinate our annual ZMS Partner Day with up to 400 brand guests.

Qualifications

• Deep, established relationships with marketing, retail, and business journalists across Europe, especially in the DACH region.
• Proven track record in PR or journalism, ideally with background in AdTech, Retail Media, or E‑commerce.
• Ability to craft compelling narratives journalists want to cover.
• Proactive mindset: creating angles and opportunities.
• Fluent in German and English, translating complex data into persuasive storytelling.
• Experience in event management, successfully steering events with up to 400 participants.
• Ability to manage high‑seniority stakeholders, keep them informed, and guide them throughout projects.
