About Oxalis Games

We’re Oxalis Games, an independent studio backed by Supercell, building a high-quality farming life-sim RPG called Moonfrost for PC. We’ve been developing the game for over 3.5 years and are approaching Early Access. Now we’re looking to expand our engineering team with a senior generalist who leans backend — someone who can help scale systems, write great gameplay code, and thrive in a small, focused team.

🧩 What You’ll Do

• Build, maintain, and optimize core game systems in Unity Engine (C#)
• Contribute to backend architecture powering gameplay, progression, and live features
• Improve performance and reliability across both client and server
• Collaborate closely with our designers and artists to bring features to life
• Help the team ship a polished, engaging Early Access experience — and beyond

• Game client: Unity Engine, C#
• Backend: Node.js, MongoDB
• Infrastructure: Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Other: Git, Notion, Discord (we keep things lean and async-friendly)
• Platform: Open Loot

✅ What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of professional backend development experience (preferably in the game industry)
• Hands-on experience with matchmaking algorithms, player session management, and anti-cheat systems
• Comfortable working across both gameplay and backend codebases
• Experience building scalable systems, tools, and content pipelines for gaming LiveOps
• Ability to work independently, make pragmatic decisions, and ship quality code
• Bonus: experience with Node.js, MongoDB, and cloud platforms like Google Cloud Platform
• Bonus: Experience building multiplayer architecture, especially with Unity Engine

• Full-time
• Fully remote
• We’re UK-based, but open to candidates ideally within ±3 hours of UK time
