Senior Legal Counsel - Renewable Energy, Hamburg Based

For their Hamburg office , our client is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel .

Key Responsibilities

• Independently draft and review a broad range of commercial and project-related contracts, including Sale and Purchase Agreements (SPA), Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts, Operation & Maintenance (O&M) agreements, financing agreements, land lease and purchase agreements, Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), and other project contracts.
• Lead and manage contract negotiations with suppliers, clients, partners, and regulatory bodies, ensuring commercially sound terms that comply with applicable laws and regulations.
• Analyse regulatory and permitting matters throughout the development, construction, and operational phases of renewable energy projects to ensure full compliance with local, national, and international requirements.
• Manage corporate housekeeping for project companies, including drafting board resolutions, minutes, powers of attorney, and managing changes of directors.
• Coordinate and oversee external legal counsel, ensuring advice is aligned with business objectives, timelines, and project needs, while acting as a key interface between external advisors and internal stakeholders.
• Identify and assess legal risks related to contracts, regulatory matters, and corporate governance, and propose pragmatic mitigation strategies aligned with commercial objectives.

Candidate Profile

• Qualified lawyer in Germany.
• At least 6 years’ post-qualification experience in the energy and infrastructure sector, ideally with international exposure.
• Strong knowledge of corporate and financing law.
• Fluency in German and English is essential; additional languages such as Italian, Portuguese, or Spanish are an advantage.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and confident communicator with strong negotiation skills.
• Deep understanding of the commercial dynamics of the energy and infrastructure sector and experience working with complex projects and corporate structures.
