Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

About the Role

As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you will play a critical, hands‑on role in ensuring the quality and safety of Helsing’s software products. You will work closely with engineering teams to ensure that our software development processes adhere to stringent aerospace industry standards, thereby guaranteeing the quality and safety of our software products. This role offers the potential to evolve into a Software CVE position, providing opportunities for career growth as an expert individual contributor.

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities

• Implement, execute, and help maintain software quality assurance processes and practices that comply with DO‑178C standards.
• Compliance Verification Engineering activities.
• Participate in regular audits and conformity reviews of software development processes to identify and address potential non‑compliance issues.
• Support and conduct Pre‑SOI audits internally before authority involvement.
• Collaborate daily with cross‑functional engineering teams to apply quality standards and best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Draft, review, and maintain detailed quality assurance documentation, including plans, checklists, and compliance reports, in accordance with DO‑178C standards.
• Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to software quality assurance, DO‑178C, AI, and EN 9100 standards.

Qualifications

• University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• Hands‑on experience in software quality assurance with a focus on aerospace industry compliance standards such as DO‑178C.
• Experience working with quality assurance processes for embedded software systems in regulated environments, preferably within the aerospace industry.
• Familiarity with software development life‑cycle processes and methodologies, particularly those applicable to safety‑critical systems.
• In‑depth understanding of DO‑178C guidelines, objectives, and processes for software quality assurance and compliance.
• Excellent communication skills for engaging at all levels within an organisation; briefing to/working with the C‑Suite can be expected in our flat organisation.
• Strong problem‑solving, critical‑thinking, and analytical skills with a curiosity to learn innovative technology and ways of working.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks in a dynamic, high‑paced environment.
