Software Engineer – Frontend Autonomous Air System V&V
Apply for the Software Engineer – Frontend Autonomous Air System V&V role at Helsing .
About Helsing
Helsing is a defence AI company dedicated to protecting democracies and achieving technological leadership while balancing ethical and geopolitical concerns.
About the Role
Our Autonomous Air System V&V team builds simulation and validation environments that enable rigorous testing of autonomous air systems before they leave the ground. We develop Software‑in‑The‑Loop (SiL) and Hardware‑in‑The‑Loop (HiL) environments that allow engineers to integrate, test, and assure AI‑driven capabilities against virtualised and representative hardware.
The work involves building software that must operate across highly variable environments and support complex use‑cases. The results ultimately support real‑world operations in high‑risk, high‑stress situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Review code contributions, proposals, and RFCs from colleagues.
- Own the UI end‑to‑end, from wireframes and prototypes to production‑ready code.
- Propose and implement new features, capabilities, visualisations, or full products.
- Translate complex technical data into intuitive interfaces for engineers.
- Establish and evolve our component library for consistency and reusability.
- Mentor and support the hiring pipeline, fostering growth within the organisation.
- Collaborate with product, UX and backend teams to integrate and improve systems.
- Extend test suites and benchmarks at micro and macro levels for robustness.
- Present work at weekly demo sessions to share progress and gather feedback.

- Ability to write legible, maintainable, and performant code.
- Excellent verbal and written communication in English.
- Collaborative mindset, including code reviews and pair programming.

- Commitment to continuous personal and cultural improvement.
- Strong ethical consideration in engineering.

- Experience with simulation, model monitoring, or developer tools.
Benefits
- Outcome‑focused culture, no time‑tracking.
- Competitive compensation and stock options.
