Solutions Engineer (f/m/d)

Overview

The Solution Engineer (f/m/d) supports technical design activities for commercial opportunities, collaborating closely with Sales, Engineering, and Operations to ensure that customer solutions are effectively designed and successfully transitioned to delivery teams. Acting as the technical face of Digital Realty, the role focuses on aligning solutions with customer requirements while supporting opportunities for upsell and strategic value in close partnership with Sales.

What You Will Do

• Lead technical pre‑sales engagements in close partnership with Sales, shaping solutions that support deal strategy, pricing, and successful closure


• Own end‑to‑end solution design from initial customer discussions through scope definition, providing technical input into commercial alignment, and handover to delivery teams


• Design and position scalable data centre, interconnection, and network solutions, including carrier diversity, cross‑connects, and multi‑site architectures


• Act as a technical advisor to customers, translating ambiguous requirements into clear, deliverable, and commercially viable solutions


• Focus on solution design for AI‑ready, high‑density colocation environments, including power, cooling, and operational considerations


• Drive upsell and expansion opportunities by aligning technical solutions with customer growth, network evolution, and AI roadmaps


• Lead data centre tours, customer workshops, and technical presentations, engaging confidently at both technical and executive levels

What You Will Need

• 3–5+ years of experience in data centres, interconnection, networking, or a closely related environment


• Strong hands‑on knowledge of data centre architecture, critical infrastructure, and operational environments


• Proven experience in a pre‑sales or solution engineering role, partnering closely with Sales


• Strong network and interconnection acumen, with end‑to‑end understanding of customer deployments


• Experience or strong exposure to AI, GPU, or high‑density colocation environments; liquid cooling experience is a plus


• Fluent in German and English


• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at technical, operational, and executive levels


• Strong analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple opportunities in parallel under pressure
