Staff Engineer / Senior DevOps Engineer (m/f/d)

We are hiring for our client, a fast-growing SaaS company building its own product for industrial and manufacturing customers.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior / Staff-level DevOps (Platform) Engineer to take ownership of platform infrastructure, CI/CD, and observability.

You will work closely with engineering leadership to design and operate systems that connect development to production reliably and efficiently. This role is highly strategic, with a strong focus on building scalable foundations rather than short-term fixes.

Key Responsibilities

CI/CD & Automation

• Design and operate CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Terraform, Ansible)
• Improve deployment speed, reliability, and reproducibility
• Define rollback strategies and change control mechanisms

Platform & Runtime

• Own and improve runtime infrastructure and deployment processes
• Implement rollout strategies based on risk and environment

GitOps & Lifecycle

• Establish GitOps practices (repo structure, environment promotion, secrets management)
• Ensure full lifecycle integration from development to production

Observability

• Lead observability practices across the platform
• Own logging/monitoring stack (e.g. Fluentd, Loki, Grafana)
• Define meaningful SLOs, alerts, and telemetry standards
• Evaluate and introduce modern DevOps tools and practices
• Balance innovation with real operational needs and constraints

Security & Reliability

• Improve secrets management, system hardening, and backup/restore processes
• Ensure reliability through structured troubleshooting and continuous improvement

Requirements

• ~5–7+ years of experience in DevOps / Platform Engineering
• Strong hands-on experience with:
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible)
• Solid understanding of:
• Full software lifecycle (dev → production)
• GitOps principles and trade-offs
• Kubernetes and containerized environments
• Experience with deployment strategies (blue/green, canary, feature flags)
• Strong observability knowledge (logs, metrics, alerting, SLOs)
• Strong Linux and networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP, etc.)
• Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting ability
• Clear communication skills in English (working language)

Nice to Have

• Cloud experience (Azure or GCP)
• Hybrid infrastructure / VPN / networking exposure
• Experience with modern tools (e.g. OpenTelemetry, Pulumi)
• Experience with data-heavy or AI/ML systems
• Database reliability (e.g. PostgreSQL HA, backup/restore)
• Experience in regulated or industrial environments
