AI Engineering Manager

My client is hiring for a Senior Staff AI Engineer to manage and guide architecture for their core testing platform. You will balance people management (8–10 engineers and scientists) with hands-on system design, scaling evaluation capabilities across LLMs, computer vision, and autonomous systems.

Key Responsibilities

• People Management: Lead hiring, 1:1s, career development, and foster a high-trust engineering culture.
• Technical Direction: Shape evaluation science, metrics, and system architecture across multiple AI domains.
• Hands-On Leadership: Set engineering standards through strategic code reviews, ADRs, and targeted coding.
• Cross-Functional Delivery: Partner with product and executive teams to translate roadmaps into execution plans.

Key Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, including technical leadership or engineering management.
• Solid background in ML, data science, or statistics to guide applied R&D and evaluation metrics.
• Proficiency in Python for backend services and data pipelines.
• Proven track record of owning system architecture and scaling cross-functional teams.
• Experience with AI testing, evaluation, governance, or data-quality tools (LLMs, RAG, or computer vision).

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with TypeScript, modern data pipelines (DuckDB, Parquet), Kubernetes, or GPU inference infrastructure.
