Assistant Manager Finance

Vanguard Logistics is seeking an experienced Assistant Finance Manager to join our Finance team in Hamburg, Germany. This role will support day-to-day accounting operations across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Operational Finance, while contributing to month-end close activities, reconciliations, process improvements and backlog reduction initiatives.

The ideal candidate will be a hands‑on accounting professional with strong German language skills, solid operational finance experience, and the ability to work effectively with Finance, Operations and shared service teams.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable (AP)

• Verify and post supplier invoices
• Prepare and process payments
• Liaise with suppliers regarding payment status
• Follow up on missing invoices

Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Reconcile customer accounts
• Support collection and dunning activities
• Communicate with customers regarding outstanding balances

General Accounting

• Process bank postings
• Support balance sheet reconciliations
• Assist with month-end closing activities

Process & Operational Support

• Support invoice archiving and documentation
• Collaborate with Operations and GRC teams
• Drive process improvements and backlog reduction initiatives

Qualifications & Experience

• 7-10 years of accounting experience
• Strong AP and AR experience
• Fluent German (written and spoken)
• Good working proficiency in English
• Hands‑on and detail-oriented approach
• Ability to work independently and proactively
• Logistic industry experience preferred
