Overview

In this role you will lead a high-performing team to push breakthroughs in LCOS-based display and imaging technologies for projector light engines and related optical systems. You will shape next-generation LCOS devices, from concept to prototyping and integration with illumination and projection optics. You’ll collaborate across disciplines and with academic partners, publish and patent key innovations, and drive strategic R&D initiatives in a fast-growing automotive engineering context.

Verantwortungsbereiche
  • Drive breakthroughs in electro-optical performance of LCOS devices (speed, contrast, diffraction efficiency, phase stability) through new modes, architectures, and materials
  • Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team of engineers and researchers
  • Architect and model end-to-end LCOS display systems including illumination and projection optics for high efficiency and image quality
  • Collaborate with internal and external resources (optical, electrical, process engineers, physicists, chemists) and fabrication partners
  • Manage academic partnerships on liquid crystal technology and display/imaging applications
  • Publish and protect innovations through patent applications
Zentrale Anforderungen
  • Master in a relevant field or PhD (Optoelectronics, Optics, Photonics, Physics, Electrical Engineering)
  • Proven experience in design, implementation, and characterization of liquid crystal-based devices
  • Direct LCOS experience for projection or imaging applications is a strong advantage
  • Knowledge of optical systems related to projectors, imaging optics, or diffractive devices (subwavelength gratings, metasurfaces) is desirable
  • Experience in leading and developing teams
  • Proficiency in electromagnetic computation methods for modeling light interaction with micro-structures (e.g., FDTD, RCWA) and familiarity with simulation tools (FEM, FDTD)
  • Experience with liquid crystal materials, especially high-birefringence LCs for fast-switching and phase modulation
  • Strong software skills (Python, C++), and ability to work with specialized simulation software
